Tuguegarao City Councilor Grace Arago is facing backlash from netizens after allegedly using an Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated prayer during the 9th City Council Regular Session on Tuesday, June 17.

The controversy erupted after a viral video showed Arago reading the opening prayer from her cellphone, prompting viewers to question its authenticity and origin.

What raised eyebrows further was a line she read aloud: “Feel free to modify this prayer or tailor it to your specific needs and benefits…”

Netizens quickly pointed out that such a phrase is typical of AI-generated content, with one Facebook user remarking, “Hindi na nga bukal sa puso yung dasal mo, binasa mo pa yung instructions.”

Some people inside the session were reportedly seen whispering to each other following the unusual phrasing.

Critics said Arago should have either prayed from the heart or at least edited the AI-generated text before reading it aloud.

As of writing, Councilor Arago has not issued any response or official statement regarding the matter.
