MISLEADING: A Facebook post claims that Metro Manila will be placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) starting June 1, 2020.

FACT: The post is outdated. The announcement of GCQ in Metro Manila on June 1, 2020 was made during the COVID-19 pandemic, and no similar policy has been implemented in 2025.

The post recently resurfaced through the page “SK Memes,” which failed to clarify that the content dates back to 2020. Such posts can cause confusion and panic, especially when public health concerns like monkeypox (mpox) are in the news.

As of May 2025, the Department of Health has not recommended lockdowns. While Maasin City has reinstated mandatory masking and Aurora Province has issued precautionary advisories, the overall mpox situation remains controlled.

Authorities urge the public to check dates and sources before sharing health-related announcements. Outdated or decontextualized content can distort current events and disrupt community responses.
