FALSE. Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte has replaced Martin Romualdez as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

FACT: As of May 25, 2025, Martin Romualdez remains the Speaker of the House. A manifesto expressing support for him was signed by 278 House members.

There has been no official vote or congressional action to remove or replace Romualdez. The video spreading the claim uses speculative headlines and misleading visuals to imply a transition that has not happened.

The rumor gained traction after Vice President Sara Duterte expressed support for her brother’s potential speakership in the future. However, no formal proceedings have taken place, and the post exploits this speculation to spread disinformation.

Misleading narratives like this distort legislative realities and fuel unnecessary division based on false developments.
